Recognised globally on June 12th, World Day Against Child Labour highlights the urgent need to combat child labour. At Packages Group, verifying proof of age is the minimum requirement for employment to ensure all employees meet legal age requirements. We expect the same standards from our suppliers and partners, communicated through our Supplier Code of Conduct.
Alongside these checks, we conduct awareness sessions and training throughout the year on various social issues, including child labour. As part of our annual awareness campaign for World Day Against Child Labour, we convened to address this critical issue, reinforcing our commitment to ethical practices and social responsibility.
The session provided insights into the prevalence, root causes, and strategies to combat child labour, emphasising our collective responsibility to protect children’s rights and well-being worldwide. 30 participants from various companies, including Packages Convertors, Bulleh Shah Packaging, IGI, OmyaPack, and Starch Pack attended the session at Irshad Hall, Packages Limited, led by our esteemed guest, Ms. Fatima Jaffar, Program/Provincial Manager at Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi. With 18 years of experience in Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence, Fatima is a seasoned psychologist and psychosocial counsellor, leading numerous projects focused on street children, juveniles, child abuse, and child labour.
Through education and awareness, we aim to empower our team to become advocates for change in our communities and beyond!
