On World Water Day 2026, Packages Group celebrated this year’s theme, “Water and Gender,” highlighting the critical link between equitable water access and women’s empowerment. Representatives from Tayyaba Org, a social enterprise dedicated to tackling the water scarcity crisis in Pakistan.
Tayaba.org has been working at the nexus of water and gender for nearly four years, transforming over a million lives by providing access to safe water especially for women and young girls and delivering over half a billion litres of safe water to communities in need. During the session, the importance of World Water Day was highlighted raising awareness about how water access directly impacts education, health, dignity, and economic opportunities for women and girls.
This theme strongly aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), as water scarcity and climate change disproportionately affect women and vulnerable communities.
